arashi astrology: sho

In the interest of killing time, let's do Sho's chart! The funniest thing about his is that he was born at the same time as his birthday. I laughed, ngl.

Note: I unabashedly copy-pasted the format I used for Jun's because that was a lot of typing and I'm not doing that again. And again, direct quotes are from CafeAstrology, but I did everything by hand and I'm cross-referencing it with my shit.

sun in aquarius
Modality: Fixed (persistence, determination, resourcefulness)
Element: Air
Ruler: Uranus
Season: Winter
Metal: Uranium
Stone: Amethyst
Color: Sky Blue
Anatomy: Ankles, shins, circulation
Keywords: individualistic, assertive, independent, humanitarian, inventive, original, eccentric, opinionated, intellectual, idealistic, cool, friendly, detached
Danger: Aquarius are innovative, unconventional, and sometimes eccentric, and are therefore often targets for attack by narrow-minded people. Aquarians also have a tendency to get into unusual situations and take up with oddball individuals.

So, I won't lie, Aquarius isn't one of those signs I know well. I don't really know many, and it's hit-or-miss with me and air signs, so I'm not gonna pretend to be an expert on this one.

With Aquarius, though, it's all about eccentricity. Either they have weird friends, or they're weird themselves, or it's just a combination of the two.

One of the standout characteristics of those born under the Sun Sign of Aquarius is their unwillingness to follow the beaten track. With advancement and progress on their minds, there can be an irreverence to old and outdated ways of thinking and doing things.

Many Aquarians aim to free themselves of personal and social conditioning. Although open to change in theory, Aquarians can be surprisingly stubborn. Their idealism runs strong, but they can be very fixed in their opinions.

Often a bit aloof and even standoffish, Aquarians nonetheless are usually well-liked. They are curious and observant, and tolerant in a broad sense. Prejudice and bias is offensive to the typical Aquarius.

Aquarians are generally very clever, witty, and intellectual. They value progress and frankness. It's difficult to throw Aquarians for a loop—they're generally on top of things.

There is a bit of reformer in Aquarius. They'll try to get you to see through superficiality, and encourage you to be open and forthright. "Be true to yourself" and "Don't follow the crowd" are mottos we easily associate with this sign.

Aquarians need space and value personal freedom. Any attempt to box them in will likely fail. They'll happily return the favor; and they will treat people from all walks of life as equals. Equality and fairness are hallmarks of the sign. If you're quirky and "different", all the better.

That last part in particular. I was just re-watching that "G no Arashi!" episode where they went on the company trip with the transsexuals and at the end, Sho said that hanging out with transsexuals didn't really faze him anymore; it was just normal to him now. Aquarians are all about the offbeat, the unconventional, the novel, and especially with breaking down barriers. And while we're on the subject of unconventional and breaking down barriers, need I mention him being the first Johnny to go to college and the first to be a regular newscaster? He's definitely out to prove he can do anything to which he sets his mind and prove everyone wrong about what an idol really is (sup, "Anti-Anti").

sun in third house

The third house is the house of communication

With his sun in this house, Sho is all about communicating his ideas -- something for which he's definitely got a talent -- which makes him not only a good teacher, but also a pretty bitchin leader. More than that, however, there's a bit of smugness that comes with it (come on, try and tell me you're surprised).

moon in capricorn
(Your moon sign is essentially the inner you, how you unconsciously react to things, how you view yourself.)
So, much like Jun's Taurus moon, Sho's Capricorn moon also brings with it a desire to be useful and productive; to be needed, basically. Capricorn is much more of a planner than Taurus, so whereas Jun was out to look fly all the time, Sho is out for stability. Nothing gets done without a plan (and I know I've read a grip of interviews where he talked about how, if he were planning a vacation with his wife, part of the fun would be planning the whole thing out, even if they didn't necessarily stick to it). And since Capricorn's an Earth sign, they also come across as pretty much being cool as the other side of the pillow; they seem competent and unflappable. However, they have really high standards for themselves, so whatever he does, he has to do it right (like his j-web a couple months ago where he was beating himself up for misspeaking during the press conference about Arashi being the spokespeople for the "Japan: Endless Discovery" campaign). And with this comes a desire for status and recognition for his actions. Really, it's all about planning ahead, being useful, competency, and being recognized for all of the aforementioned things.

moon in third house

And again with the third house! With this, he's got a real desire to learn anything and everything he can, loves languages and to travel. He doesn't necessarily like routine, which lends itself well to constantly running all over the place filming like, five TV shows.

You are very responsive, communicative, and curious. You can have a talent for imitating others and/or for picking up languages. You might either intellectualize your emotions rather than truly feel them and deal with them, or you communicate with excessive emotion. Some of you may do both at different times, and as you mature and develop, you learn to find a balance

ascendant in scorpio
(Your ascendant is your public face, how you come off in a first impression, and is calculated by where the sun was rising when you were born)

If there's one thing you need to know about Scorpios, it's that they love to be noticed. They have this kind of quiet charisma that draws you in and makes you want to figure them out (not surprising, since Scorpio is all about mysteries). I say this because not only is it my moon, but I swear to god like, half my friends are Scorpios, almost completely on accident.

As far as a first impression goes, with some Scorpio rising it can be a kind of "I will fuck up your entire existence," but with Sho, it's more just a straight-up "notice me" kind of impression. He's there, and you can't really ignore him; he's got definite presence and he wants to be respected. Scorpio can also be mega paranoid about their privacy, which is probably why you never hear about him involved in scandals. Scorpios are always one step ahead of everyone, and that combined with his Capricorn moon means he's meticulously planning out his every move because lord forbid anyone get a negative impression of him or change their opinion of him. But on the bright side, he's really good at reading people (which explains his MC skills -- also, remember his sun and moon in the third house), and good at remembering bits of information about people (Cream Stew should have had him be the one to move the conversation along in that first episode of "Arashi ni Shiyagare.")

mercury in aquarius
(Mercury represents communication and logic)

Remember how I said Aquarius was kinda quirky? In this position, it makes him more lively and attracted to intellectual debate, and has a different view of the world than most people. In particular, he lives to mess with people's heads. Not necessarily like Nino does with practical jokes, but just by being weird. Think: newscaster one minute, wearing nipple t-shirts the next. This is probably where that huge gap he's got comes from.

mercury in third house

Gotdamn, son, you've got a lot of stuff in the third house.

Deep studies. Adaptable. He is attracted to the Arts/letters. He knows how to share ideas. Moves around a lot professionally. He can easily keep many irons in the fire at the same time. A true multi-tasker.

venus in capricorn
(Venus, for those of you not familiar with your mythology, represents love, emotion, and pleasure)

A wise woman once said, "ambition makes me so horny." If this applies to you, might I recommend a Venus in Capricorn man? Sho is all about showing off how stable, competent, useful, and ambitious he is. He doesn't necessarily fall in love easy (Capricorns take their time with everything; god forbid they rush into something and be wrong about it), and he isn't necessarily out to show off, but he knows what he wants, i.e. a girl with a cute smile who'll go along with his plans and appreciate what he has and, above all, provide that extra little bit of stability for which he's always searching.

venus in third house

Can we please get out the third house, son? Holy hell.

You are verbally expressive, diplomatic, and aim to be tactful. You easily win others over with your words, whether it's because of a likeable facility with language, a beautiful voice, or a diplomatic use of words. You readily give out compliments. Some of you might use flattery to your own benefit at the risk of being ingenuine. You are generally a very good mediator, aiming to settle arguments quickly and restoring at least temporary peace. You have a mischievous side, however, and your desire to be tactful and polite with others doesn't always succeed. Some of you might engage in a lot of mind games, and others might eventually find out that you don't always mean what you say or say what you mean! You value mental stimulation and frequent changes of scenery in your love relationships.

mars in libra
(Mars is about physical energy and assertiveness)

Libra here isn't necessarily about being assertive; at least overtly. Libra is all about fairness, which for some people could mean being a passive-aggressive dickhole, but for Sho manifests itself as a commitment to justice. I'm thinking in particular about his segments about the 65th anniversary of the end of WWII lately on "News Zero" -- speaking with the woman who survived the firebombings of Tokyo, and the other woman who hid in that cave in Okinawa. He knows he's visible and that people who many not necessarily give a shit about the news or contemporary issues on any given day will be watching, so he really values the opportunity to get out there and change people's minds in whatever way he can. Again, he's not deliberately aggressive or assertive, but he definitely gets his point across.

mars in eleventh house

YES! Now that we've escaped the third house for the time being, welcome to the eleventh: the house of hopes and friendship.!

He achieves his ambitions. He is impulsive and presses on without thinking. He starts something new without necessarily finishing the last job. He likes to dominate and lacks diplomacy where friends and professional relations are concerned.

jupiter in scorpio
(Jupiter is about luck and expansion, and is also Sag's ruling planet)

Sho will basically do his best when he can put his all into a project. He also loves to study and solve problems (like you're surprised).

jupiter in twelfth house

He and Jun have their Jupiter in the same house 8D

He is kindly, and does charity work. He is protected from life's rigors to which he is not immune, but he knows how to cope. He likes working in peace and alone.

saturn in libra
(Saturn is discipline, effort, and limitations)

With Libra here, he's all about making a good impression on people but won't necessarily get too terribly close to them. This sucks cos it could mean loneliness, but is good because it lends to success in public life. He's also all about methodically planning and achieving each and every goal he sets for himself.

saturn in the eleventh house

Like Jun, he's got his Saturn in the eleventh house, so he enjoys learning whatever he can from people (older people, in particular) whom he considers intelligent.

He appreciates the company of older people of intelligence and good counsel. These will help success in professional life. He has few friends and has difficulty in finding a partner. He is very reserved.

uranus in sagittarius
(No jokes, ok? We're not five years old. Uranus is liberty, both individual and of the ego)

And this in common, too! Which basically makes them both rebels that do their own thing their own way at their own pace.

uranus in first house

He is above all independent and original. Sometimes blunt and irritable. Never lets himself be influenced. He does not tolerate any sort of setback. He is ready for adventure, even though it's risky.

neptune in sagittarius

Sho, too, loves the ocean, loves to travel, and a combination of the two.

neptune in second house

The second house is the house of possessions, material security, and finance.

He may prefer not to attach too much value to money, but if this is overdone, there can be quite a few problems in life concerning money and ownership. He might make money through artistic pursuits, but must avoid the potential pitfalls of putting too much faith in ideas that don't have enough grounding in reality. Financial advice is important to obtain.

pluto in libra
(Pluto is transformation)

I should say it isn't really surprising so many of the members have these parts of their charts in common, since these planets don't move around a bunch. Anyhoo, Pluto here wants to always find new ways to make friends and relate to people.

He uses all his energy to succeed professionally. He has a good sense of organization and authority.

All riiight, two done, three to go! Sorry this was less words words words than Jun's. Sho has always struck me as more secretive than the others and I guess now I know why.! Plus, with like, half his chart in the third house, he's mostly about self-expression and learning and freaking people out in new and interesting ways.
